Certain fragrances may also contain potentially harmful ingredients that are not adequately regulated or disclosed. Companies that produce artificial fragrances are not legally required to disclose the specific chemicals used in their formulations.
Sometimes when companies list a product as “unscented” it may still have artificial fragrances that hide unpleasant ingredients or just are created to smell “clean.” Products labeled “fragrance-free” should have no artificial fragrances, but may include essential oils. It can be very confusing!
