Is Everyday Oil Non-comedogenic?

October 22, 2021

Non-comedogenic: denoting a skin-care product or cosmetic that is specially formulated so as not to cause blocked pores.

We get a lot of questions about whether Everyday Oil is non-comedogenic. People often ask us this question in regards to coconut oil, which has been shown in some studies to be comedogenic (more simply put, meaning it can cause breakouts). Much like in cooking, sometimes an ingredient can be very different on its own than when used in a recipe. We wouldn't recommend using coconut oil on your skin on its own, but formulated in our balanced blend it works beautifully and is not comedogenic (this study is a good reference for this phenomenon). We recently did a clinical trial testing Everyday Oil to make sure. It was done by an independent third-party lab that specializes in skincare clinical trials and was supervised and tested by a dermatologist. We are excited to report that Everyday Oil is now officially non-comedogenic and was shown to "significantly improve closed comedones, non-inflammatory lesions and total lesion count" in the study's participants. Simply said, it won't cause breakouts and actually helps heal them.

We've seen first hand how Everyday Oil is great for all skin types, especially acne prone skin (you must read the heart-warming and day-making acne related reviews under the product listing, search 'acne').

We sing coconut oil's praises for being beautifully hydrating but also truly cleansing. In our blend, it's easily absorbed by the skin and can help reinforce the skin's natural moisture barrier while improving the look of elasticity and restoring moisture. Coconut oil is rich in antioxidants which help improve the look of fine lines and age spots and the lauric acid and vitamin E found in coconut oil (and the other gorgeous oils we use) soothe troubled skin.

We are so very grateful for all the wonderful reviews you all leave for us and many of them talk about how the Oil has helped acne in one way or another. Here are a few of our favorites ~
