Why cleanse with oil?

October 20, 2023 1 Comment

Why not soap? Most of us are taught that soapy suds = clean and while that may be true for many things, this approach doesn’t do our fragile face skin any favors. Our skin has its own system of protection, using its own oils and delicate microbiome. Using cleansers that strip away the skin’s natural oils and disrupt the skin’s biome causes imbalance, and the skin usually over-produces oil in an attempt to re-balance. This cycle of stripping the oil and the skin making too much oil in response can lead to an imbalance in the microbiome, frustrating blemishes and irritated skin.

Using a well-formulated oil cleanses your skin efficiently without stripping or disrupting the biome. It balances with your skin bringing cleansing, healing and nourishing properties.

When balanced and happy, not only can our skin’s microbiome protect against infection by keeping other organisms in check, it helps heal wounds and keeps inflammation at bay. An imbalance in the microbiome can be a trigger for different skin conditions, including allergies, rosacea, eczema and psoriasis.

Everyday Oil is certified Microbiome-Friendly, meaning the skin’s biome was analyzed in a lab specializing in the microbiome, to make sure it wasn’t disrupted by using Everyday Oil.

How to cleanse with oil :)

Just add water! Rinse your face with warm water and while it is still damp, apply Everyday Oil and massage lightly into the face and neck. Use a clean damp washcloth for makeup removal or extra exfoliation.

For a deeper cleanse, apply a wet, warm washcloth to your face for 10 seconds to open your pores, or do this treatment in the bathtub. Using a couple pumps of oil, massage into your face in circular motions- upwards and out, for several minutes. Allow the oil to break up and dissolve any blockages deep in your pores. Gently remove any excess oil using a clean, damp and warm washcloth.

How often should I oil-cleanse?

Everyone has different needs, so do what feels best! We recommend twice a day. Everyday Oil helps gently cleanse the day away in the evening and refreshes + protects in the morning.

Breath deeply, feel gratitude and start the day being gentle with yourself.

For the past year, I’ve had gel manicures. Nonstop-back to back for 8 months.
I decided to take a break and allow my natural nails to breathe. They were so damaged after having gel nails for such a long time. At night before bed, I began applying Everyday oil to my nail cuticles and hands. Within 2 weeks, I noticed a difference. My nails are not as brittle, they look healthier and seem hydrated. Not to mention, my hands are incredibly smooth. I truly believe the natural oils have helped nourish my nails back to health.
